Earl Shilton Sports Club

Smith Jenkins worked with the client to provide full planning consultancy services for the redevelopment of the Sport and Cricket Club with a new pavilion building funded by the development of 9 detached and semi-detached houses along the periphery of the cricket grounds. The application site was technically outside of the settlement boundary but a large scale development had been permitted beyond and so Smith Jenkins successfully argued that development of the site would not detrimentally affect the open countryside.  During the application Smith Jenkins prepared detailed responses to both Sports England and the English Cricket Board’s comments on the scheme in order to address concerns they had. The scheme had a lot of local support and was approved by the Council who considered the benefits of the scheme to outweigh any harm created by not being in accordance with Local Policy.
