Sainsburys Milton Keynes
Planning permission granted for a new 30,000 sq ft supermarket in Shenley Church End Local Centre to replace a vacant and redundant swimming pool. The project delivered by Frontier Estates was carefully developed in consultation with Milton Keynes Council, Parish Council, and The Parks Trust as adjacent landowners. Consultation also took place with local residents and ward Councillors. The principal planning issues related to loss of the existing facility, scale of retail floorspace, design, landscaping and highways having regard to the adjacent land uses including a large secondary school. This challenging and complex scheme was approved at Committee within five months of submission.
The supermarket opened in June 2014.
