Marcus Taylor

Planner

Marcus graduated at the University of Leicester with a BSc in Human Geography degree, before studying part-time at the University of Birmingham for an RTPI accredited MSc in Urban and Regional Planning, alongside his role at Smith Jenkins as a Planning Assistant.

Before pursuing a career in planning, Marcus was training towards becoming an English language teacher in China, although the Covid pandemic prevented him from fulfilling his contract there. Marcus therefore decided to pursue a planning career and apply for his Masters at Birmingham.

Marcus had some planning experience at a planning consultancy in St Albans before joining the team at Smith Jenkins. He has since been involved in a number of projects ranging from small residential schemes to larger corporate schemes. Of note, Marcus has been involved with a number of major multi-stakeholder schemes including for the provision of schools and educational facilities and for large scale residential schemes and strategic urban extensions. Marcus is currently working towards becoming a full member of the RTPI.

Beyond work, Marcus enjoys sports and loves to explore the outdoors. His passion for travelling and trying local cuisine is evident by his photo albums and his guilty pleasure is karaoke.
