A good start to the New Year! Planning permission granted for a new Travelodge hotel following completion of the Section 106 agreement. The proposed scheme comprises a new 81 bedroom hotel to be built as part of the service and leisure hub (The Arena) on the Stockley Park Business Park north of Heathrow.
This permission is significant given the site’s location within the Green Belt, with the local planning authority agreeing with our assessment that the scheme comprises appropriate development under paragraph 89 of the NPPF. The application was also referable to the GLA who agreed with this assessment. Other key planning issues addressed were design and conservation given the local listing of The Arena, highways, and landscaping with the site set within the high quality landscape surrounds of Stockley Park, one of the UK’s first business parks. Energy and sustainability were also carefully addressed having regard to London Plan policy.
