Milton Keynes Council has published its submission draft of the Site Allocations Plan for a final round of consultation before the plan is submitted to the Secretary of State for examination. The plan allocates 21 sites for housing across the urban area of Milton Keynes. This land is capable of delivering around 1100 dwellings and will help the Council demonstrate a 5-Year Housing Land Supply in the future.
The 21 allocations have been selected from over 60 other options and include a mixture of redundant employment, education and open space sites. Each allocation is accompanied by ‘key principles’ that will influence how development looks when it is brought forward. The plan also grants ‘permission in principle’ (PiP) to some sites that already have an approved development brief. Permission in principle was introduced by the 2016 Housing & Planning Act; sites with PiP only need to secure ‘technical details consent’ before development can commence.
The Site Allocations Plan and its accompanying evidence is available on the Council’s website along with details of how to comment. Consultation runs from 26th October 2016 until 21st December 2016.
